Cindy Adams, the age-old, celebrity commentator fill-in for Channel 4, broke the exclusive news this morning in the New York Post.
After more than three decades, WNBC/Channel 4 is tossing anchorwoman Sue Simmons overboard.
Last week, the station gave her the bad news that her contract would not be renewed — and come June, she’s history.
Simmons, who has won four Emmys since starting at Channel 4 in 1980 and is the top-paid anchorwoman at any local station in the country, would happily have stayed.
It was entirely NBC’s decision to break up the city’s best-known local anchor pair, Simmons and Chuck Scarborough.
It’s been concluded throughout the Twittersphere that no one wanted to see Sue go – apparently WNBC disagreed.
My question for NBC is the same one Sue Simmons famously asked years ago. "What the f–k are you doing?" #nbcclueless

Wow. NY Post is reporting that after 32 years, WNBC is parting ways with Sue Simmons. She's one of the most talented anchors in the country.

The station will never be the same without her.
