http://twitter.com/#!/GovChristie/status/219843242588508160

The outspoken New Jersey governor took to Twitter today to tout the progress his state has made over the past couple of years, what he’s calling the #JerseyComeback. How will the #JerseyComeback happen? By state legislators coming together to promote tax relief. The key to economic success is putting citizens’ money back in their pockets.

It’s been a long year & I know over last few weeks each of you've been working hard 2 bring this leg. session to successful conclusion.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

We did many great things together. But there is one greater thing left to do-lock in tax relief today that will help create new jobs tmrw.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Just this year alone, we’ve accomplished some landmark reforms for New Jersey…together.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

We did it because in the end it didn’t matter who the pundits say won or lost the day, it mattered what we got done for the people of NJ.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

because we worked together and we put the substance of the issues first, a significant tenure reform bill sits on my desk.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

We worked together to save lives and the result is that mandatory drug rehabilitation for non-violent offenders is now a reality.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

The historic reorg of our higher education system that not only improves the system, but also makes us more economically competitive.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Whether it’s the accomplishments of this year or the work of the last 2, we've proven one thing…

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

If we can make it happen in New Jersey, real leadership can make it happen anywhere.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Now is not the time to stop the progress of the last two years. Now is not the time to change course and reverse our hard work.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

We believe that the people of New Jersey deserve a tax cut.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

I have used my veto authority on the budget you sent me to create a $650 million surplus.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Can’t we afford to send just one-third of that surplus back to our citizens? I say yes.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Let’s show our state we can work together and finish the job before we leave for this holiday weekend.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Because this isn't about whether I win. It’s not about whether any of you win. It’s not about us. It’s about the people of New Jersey.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

So I ask all of you today, what are we waiting for? What are we waiting for? We're better than this. I know we are.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

New Jersey has stepped back from the fiscal cliff.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Today, we have a balanced budget with a sound surplus.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

We've added nearly 85,000 private sector jobs since February '10, seeing the best year of private sector job growth in 2011 in over a decade

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Our 12 month job increase was the sixth highest in the nation.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

And we’re seeing housing sales, car sales and personal income increasing at higher rates than the nation.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

We’re seeing this #JerseyComeback because of the determination of ppl in this room & because the ppl we work for have given us their faith.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Now, is the time to accelerate the #JerseyComeback, not reverse course and take a step backwards.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Let’s give the people a guarantee today—a future in New Jersey that will include three years of taxes falling, not rising.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

I asked all of you to come here today and you did. Showing up today means you understand your constitutional duties.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Now, let’s open the board, vote for a middle class tax cut and show that bipartisanship is alive and well in New Jersey.

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

I have come to the center of the room and agreed to the Senate Democratic tax plan. Will you join me?

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

Will you act today to guarantee a summer of tax relief, job competitiveness and increased confidence in state government for our citizens?

— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) July 2, 2012

I'm ready. Are you? I leave this Chamber full of hope that you will put aside politics & join me in leading our state to a better tomorrow.
