Hillary Clinton love-in continues during House testimony; ‘Wish you’d won’

As Twitchy reported, some senators questioning Secretary of State Hillary Clinton this morning, Sen. Barbara Boxer in particular, seemed less interested in what happened on Sept. 11, 2012 than in what might happen in November 2016. The love-fest continued this afternoon in the House, with the hearing on Benghazi turning into another campaign launch event.

“You will be sorely missed, but I, for one, hope not for too long,” Boxer said this morning, and freshman Rep. Ami Bera (D-Calif.) was anxious to second that emotion.

Freshman Rep Bera says as new member not much time to serve with Clinton but “We hope in a few years we will get that chance again.”

Congressman Ami Bera (D-CA) just sounded like he was asking a girl totally out of his league out to prom. The frosh needs a media course

Another endorsement – from Rep. Bera – of Hillary Clinton for president in 2016 (heading through hour 6 of testimony)

— Patricia Zengerle (@ReutersZengerle) January 23, 2013

Rep. Bera (D-CA) is either going to look like a genius or an idiot in about 200 some weeks

— Ian Ferguson(@FergusonIanW) January 23, 2013

Rep Bera just basically begged HRC to run in 2016

An early endorsement for Hillary20126 from @repbera where slobbering ensued… #NoDifficultQuestions #Benghazi #TCOT

— Anita(@redrivergrl) January 23, 2013

I think Rep. Ami Bera just signed on for Hillary ’16

Short Rep Bera to HRC: Remember me in 2016

— Margaret Aro (@magsABC) January 23, 2013

Rep. Bera pretty much just makes out with Sen. Clinton. This is annoying.

— David Podhaskie (@davidpodhaskie) January 23, 2013

Gross. How much longer will the fawning go on? If you believe ABC News’ headline, Clinton “endured brusque questioning” and was “slammed” by House Republicans this afternoon. Capitol Hill’s love affair with Clinton, though, was bipartisan, with another freshman, Rep. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), dissing the sitting president in the form of a (backhanded) compliment.

Rep Cotton from Arkansas just one-upped Bera “wish you’d won the primary in 2008″

— Margaret Aro (@magsABC) January 23, 2013

“I just wish you had won the Democratic primary in 2008,” Rep. Tom Cotton (R-AK) tells Hillary Clinton. She notes she did win Arkansas.

— Matt Viser (@mviser) January 23, 2013

GOP Rep Tom Cotton of Arkansas just said he wished Clinton had won the 2008 primaries – does that mean he thinks McCain wld have beaten her?

— Patricia Zengerle (@ReutersZengerle) January 23, 2013

It’s hard to say, as the remark was met with crickets. Some watching the proceedings were not amused, either.

That was disrespectful of Rep Cotton to say he wished Hillary had won the primaries. This kind of ugly attitude is what will hurt her spt.

This NOBODY……Rep.Tom Cotton from Arkansas, who was just elected is asking Hillary Clinton questions….are you kidding?

— Jill(@NooneOfan) January 23, 2013

And with that, Hillary’s long-awaited testimony is complete.

Hillary’s hearing is over. She’s very tired. And Stevens, Smith, Woods & Doherty are still very dead. #WhatDifferenceDoesItMake
