The Romneys and the media at Jerusalem’s Western Wall

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann, visited the Western Wall today in the Old City of Jerusalem. A mob of journalists live-tweeted the event.

Interesting timing for Mitt Romney to visit Western Wall in Jerusalem; it's Tisha B'Av, Jewish day of mourning for destruction of Temples

Romney advisor Dan Senor was on the trip:

Just wrapped warm and substantive meetings b/w Romney & Netanyahu, as well as Peres & Mofaz. Heading to Western Wall now.

Senor made headlines this morning for stating the candidate’s respect for Israel’s right to preventative strikes against Iran over its nuclear designs:

One of Mitt Romney‘s top foreign policy advisors said Sunday that as president, Romney would respect Israel’s right to strike Iran  to unilaterally prevent that nation from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Dan Senor told reporters that Western nations partnering with Israel should “do everything we can” to stop Iran from developing weapons capability.

“And if Israel has to take action on its own, in order to stop Iran from developing that capability the governor would respect that decision.”
